The oldest actor still working today is Eli Wallach. He is 97 years old and was born on December 7th, 1915 and is considered the oldest actor still working. He is one of Hollywood’s finest “Method” actors and has been in demand for over 50 years on stay and on the screen. He has worked alongside the biggest stars in Hollywood including Clint Eastwood, Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, Al Pacino to name a few.
Eli Wallach is an American television, film and stage actor and until today he is still working. He has been around for more than six decades where his career began in the late 1940s. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to Jewish parents. He graduated with a B.A. from the University of Texas in Austin.
He then earned his dramatic training with the Actors Studio and the Neighborhood Playhouse. He studied alongside Marlon Brando, Herbert Berghof, Montgomery Clift, Sidney Lumet and his soon-to-be-wife Anne Jackson.
He made his Broadway debut in 1945 and also won a Tony Award in 1951 for his excellent performance in the play The Rose Tattoo. He won a BAFTA Award for Best Newcomer and a Golden Glove nomination for his performance in Baby Doll as Silva Vacarro. This was his debut on the big screen in 1956 for this controversial film. As the oldest actor still working today, Eli Wallach has received a number of awards throughout the years. He has received Tony Awards, Emmy Awards, an Honorary Academy Award at the 2nd Annual Governors Awards and many others. He also starred in a few television series such as Batman, playing Mr. Freeze back in 1960. On November 13, 2010, Wallach was 94 years old and received an Honorary Academy Award for his superb contribution to the film industry.
